Reincarnation and relationships — why some people feel like remembering

You've felt it, or you wouldn't be reading this page: you meet someone and it isn't like meeting at all. It's like remembering. And then there's the other side of it — the way the same relationship keeps happening to you with different faces, the same argument in a new voice, as if you're being handed the lesson again until you finally take it.

The old teaching says our souls travel together across many lives — that the people who matter most to us now have mattered to us before, and that we return to each other to finish what we started. I've sat with that idea my whole career, and whatever you believe about past lives, I can tell you what twenty-five years of readings have shown me: the patterns are real. People carry old material into new love — old fears, old debts, old promises — and until it's seen, it runs the show.

Something else I've watched over these decades: people are waking up. When I began this work, most callers wanted me to tell them how to keep a struggling relationship exactly as it was. Now, more and more, they want to understand it — why it formed, what it came to teach, whether it still fits who they're becoming. That's a genuine change in how people love, and I think it's beautiful. Our older relationships were so often founded in separateness — two people bracing against each other, bickering and stressing and splitting up and coming back, the whole struggle just to stay intact. When you start seeing the pattern instead of just living it, everything about your choices changes.

There's an old axiom: "I'll believe it when I see it." Somewhere along the way I learned the reverse holds real truth too: what you believe about love shapes what you're able to notice — and what you allow yourself to receive. That's not magic, and it's not a promise; it's attention. A heart braced for the old pattern will find the old pattern. A heart that's done the real looking sees differently.

That kind of looking is what a reading is for. Not "who were you in a past life" theater — but sitting together with the connection that feels ancient, or the pattern that won't quit, and naming what it's actually made of.
